Bitget Review 2026: Fees, Copy Trading, Safety and Availability
Bitget is a large crypto exchange whose best products are copy trading and futures, with base fees of 0.1% on spot and 0.02% / 0.06% on futures. It is not available in the US, Canada and a long list of other countries, it paused new sign-ups from India in February 2026, and it was hacked in September 2026. Here is what to know before you open an account.

Who Bitget is for, and who should skip it
I use Bitget mainly for copy trading and altcoin futures, never as a place to park savings. In short:
- Good fit if you want to copy other traders: Bitget's copy trading section is one of the most developed, with filters for return, drawdown and follower count.
- Good fit for futures: USDT-margined perpetuals, up to 150x on BTCUSDT, and free trading bots.
- Good fit if you want US stock exposure through crypto: rTokens and, in eligible countries, real shares via Stock+.
- Check first if you live in India or the Philippines: Bitget paused new Indian sign-ups in February 2026, and the Philippine SEC named it among unregistered platforms in 2025.
- Not for you if you live in the US, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Germany, France, Austria or another country on Bitget's prohibited list.
Bitget makes sense for copy trading, bots and futures, but only once you have confirmed your country of residence is not restricted.
If your country is not restricted, you can sign up through the link below.

Bitget fees
Bitget publishes its base rates for regular users (VIP 0) in its fee FAQ. Spot is the same for maker and taker. On futures, a limit order costs a third of a market order.
| Market | Maker (limit order) | Taker (market order) | Example: 1,000 USDT trade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spot | 0.1% | 0.1% | 1 USDT to enter |
| USDT-M futures | 0.02% | 0.06% | 0.2 USDT limit or 0.6 USDT market |
| Futures at 10x (10,000 USDT position) | 0.02% | 0.06% | 2 USDT limit or 6 USDT market |
| Stocks (rTokens and Stock+) | from 0.1% | from 0.1% | from 1 USDT |
| P2P | 0 for takers | 0 for takers | No Bitget fee except the NGN market, where advertisers pay 0.1% |
As of October 2026: Bitget "Trading Fees FAQ", Stocks 2.0 coverage and Bitget's NGN P2P announcement. VIP tiers and paying spot fees in BGB lower these rates; see the live schedule at bitget.com/fee.
Futures fees are charged on the full position, not your margin. Row three shows it: 1,000 USDT of margin at 10x is a 10,000 USDT position, so 6 USDT to enter at market and the same to exit. Add funding every 8 hours if you hold.
You can pay spot fees in Bitget's BGB token for a discount. The exact discount and VIP thresholds change from time to time, so check the official fee schedule before you rely on a number.

Copy trading: Bitget's strongest product
You pick an "elite trader", allocate an amount, and the exchange repeats their trades in your account. Only trades the elite trader opens in their elite trading zone are copied; their personal trades are not.
- Profit share – the trader sets 0% to 10% and takes it only from profit. Settlement runs daily at 00:00 UTC+8 once the trader has closed all positions.
- Futures copy modes – fixed amount per trade, a multiplier of the trader's size, or "smart copy" that uses the same share of your allocation as the trader uses of theirs.
- Minimum – Bitget's help center lists 50 USDT per trader, though a trader can set a higher minimum.
- Stop-loss and take-profit – set as a percentage for everything you copy from one trader. Always set them.
- Slippage limit – skip a copied trade if the price has moved more than your set percentage from the trader's entry.
Copy trading on Bitget is flexible, but the risk is yours: without your own stop-loss you take every loss the trader takes, leverage included.
My rule is simple: a great month means nothing. I look at maximum drawdown, track record (six months or more), number of trades and average leverage. A trader showing +400% in two weeks is almost always running 50x and will eventually wipe out their followers.
Stocks on Bitget: rTokens and Stock+
In June 2026 Bitget launched Stocks 2.0, two US equity products inside a crypto account. They work very differently.
rTokens cover 500+ stocks and ETFs (rAAPL, rNVDA, rTSLA and so on). They give 1:1 economic exposure: dividends and splits are passed through, but you are not a registered shareholder and have no vote. Selected tokens trade 24/7, and they can be used as futures margin.
Stock+ buys real US stocks and ETFs with USDC through US brokers RQD Clearing and Atomic Vaults Securities. More than 10,000 tickers, fractional shares from 0.0001, trading 24/5. Stock+ is not available in the EU, UK, Canada, Australia, India, Kenya, Singapore and several other countries. Nigeria and the Philippines were not on the published exclusion list, but check eligibility in the app. More in our guide on buying stocks with crypto.

Where Bitget is available
Bitget updated its Terms of Use on 16 October 2026 and added Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan to the prohibited list: affected users could not open new trades from 18 October and were asked to withdraw by 21 October. Western sanctions on Russia are the backdrop, but Kazakhstan is not under sanctions, so this was Bitget's own risk decision rather than a direct legal requirement.
| Country or region | Status | What matters |
|---|---|---|
| Nigeria | Available | Active NGN P2P market; takers pay no Bitget fee |
| India | New sign-ups paused | Since 6 February 2026 for Indian residents and Indian KYC documents; existing users kept access |
| Philippines | Flagged by regulator | SEC advisory of August 2025 named Bitget as unregistered; local ISPs began blocking access |
| USA, Canada, Japan | Prohibited | US territories included |
| Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand | Prohibited | Per Bitget Terms of Use |
| Germany, France, Austria | Prohibited | No MiCA licence as of mid-2026 for the rest of the EU either |
| United Kingdom | Restricted | Promotions approved via an FCA-authorised firm; retail derivatives not offered |
As of October 2026: Bitget Terms of Use (last updated 20 October 2026), Crypto Times (India), Philippine SEC advisory coverage. Rules change often, so read the Terms of Use on bitget.com before signing up.
Clause 8.6 of the Terms explicitly bans using a VPN to get around restrictions. If Bitget sees you logging in from a prohibited country, the account can be limited.
Is Bitget safe? The 2026 hack and reserves
On 24 September 2026, attackers moved roughly $388 million from Bitget's hot wallets. According to Bitget, they got privileged internal credentials through a flaw in a third-party security product; private keys and cold wallets were not compromised. CEO Gracy Chen said the Protection Fund covers the loss and customer balances were unaffected.
Withdrawals reopened in phases between 28 September and 2 October. Bitget's August 2026 Proof of Reserves showed a 122% ratio and a Protection Fund of 5,500 BTC. These are Bitget's own figures, not an audit.
- Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app and set an anti-phishing code for emails.
- Enable a withdrawal address whitelist.
- Keep only what you are actively trading on the exchange.
- Sign up only at bitget.com or through the official app: look-alike sites are common, especially on Reddit and Telegram.
The hack showed Bitget can cover a loss from its fund, but keeping all your savings on any centralised exchange is an avoidable risk.
Bitget vs Bitget Wallet, Trust Wallet and BitGo
These get mixed up a lot. The Bitget exchange is custodial: Bitget holds the keys, and you get trading, futures and P2P. Bitget Wallet and Trust Wallet are non-custodial wallets where you hold the seed phrase; Bitget Wallet runs on separate infrastructure and was not affected by the September hack. BitGo is an institutional custody company, not a retail exchange. Exness is a forex and CFD broker, so its crypto products are price contracts, not coins you can withdraw.
Verification on Bitget
Since 1 January 2024 you cannot deposit, trade or use P2P on Bitget without KYC. You need a passport or national ID (accepted types vary by country) and a live face check. Review usually takes under an hour; the help center gives up to one business day. One person can verify only one main account.
The full sign-up, referral code and KYC walkthrough is in a separate guide: Bitget registration and verification.
P2P on Bitget
P2P lets you swap crypto for local money directly with other users. Bitget locks the seller's coins in escrow until the buyer pays and the seller confirms. There is no Bitget fee except in the Nigerian naira market, where advertisers pay 0.1% and takers pay nothing. Pay only from an account in your own name: third-party payments cause most disputes and freezes.
I cover how to vet P2P counterparties and cash out safely in withdrawing USDT to a bank card.
