OKX review: fees, products and where the exchange works in 2026
OKX is a large crypto exchange with spot, perpetual futures up to 100x, options, tokenized stocks, Earn, bots and P2P. The base fee is 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker on spot, 0.02% and 0.05% on futures. Before you sign up, check your country: OKX is fully closed in India, and in the Philippines it is operating without SEC registration.

Who OKX is for
OKX grew out of OKCoin, which Star Xu founded in 2013. OKEx launched in 2017 and was renamed OKX in 2022. The global platform is run by Aux Cayes FinTech, registered in Seychelles, while the EU gets a separate licensed entity, OKX Europe.
Traders pick OKX for three things: a deep futures market, a unified trading account and a lot of tools inside one app. Beginners can use it, but the interface is busy – there are far more menus than you need to buy your first USDT.
- Futures traders – around 300 crypto perpetuals, up to 100x on BTC and ETH, cross and isolated margin.
- People who want US stocks for USDT – xStocks tokens on spot plus perpetual contracts on stocks, ETFs and commodities.
- Passive holders – Simple Earn, ETH and SOL staking, Dual Investment, loans.
- People who fund via P2P – OKX charges no fee on P2P trades and holds the seller's coins in escrow.
- Self-custody users – OKX Wallet is a non-custodial Web3 wallet; you hold the keys.
OKX is strongest in derivatives and in the exchange-plus-wallet combo. If you only buy coins once a month, most of it will go unused.

OKX products: what you can trade
This is what I checked on the OKX website and through its public API. The number of pairs and contracts changes almost weekly, so the figures are rounded.
| Product | What OKX offers | Useful for |
|---|---|---|
| Spot | About 300 coins, over 1,000 trading pairs | Buying and selling crypto without leverage |
| Perpetual futures | About 300 crypto contracts, up to 100x on BTC and ETH | Long and short with leverage, hedging |
| Stock and commodity perps | About 200 contracts on stocks and ETFs, plus gold, silver, oil | Trading stocks 24/7 with USDT margin |
| Options | On BTC and ETH | Experienced traders hedging or trading volatility |
| xStocks | Over 150 tokenized stocks and ETFs on spot, against USDT and USDC | Getting stock exposure without a broker |
| Earn | Simple Earn, ETH and SOL staking, Dual Investment, loans | Yield on idle coins |
| Copy trading and bots | Copy trading, grid, DCA (Martingale), signal bots, TWAP | Automation and learning from other traders |
| P2P | Buy and sell USDT for local currency, from 1 USDT | Funding and cashing out |
As of October 2026, based on okx.com and the OKX public API. Products depend on your country; the EU and UK get a reduced set.
Futures and the unified account
The feature traders like most is the unified account: one balance serves both spot and futures, and coins in Auto Earn can be used as margin. It is convenient, but risky for beginners. In cross margin a losing futures trade can eat the whole account balance. Before your first trade, read how cross differs from isolated margin and work out your liquidation price.
Stocks: xStocks and stock perps
In March 2026 OKX launched perpetual contracts on stocks with crypto margin, and in July it added tokenized stocks built on xStocks that trade against USDT around the clock. These are tokens and derivatives, not shares held at a broker: you get no shareholder rights, and US and EU users cannot buy them. More in our guide what xStocks are.

OKX fees for regular users
OKX uses a standard maker/taker model. A maker places a limit order that sits in the order book; a taker hits the book with a market order. The base tier is called Regular user, and VIP tiers unlock by trading volume or account assets.
| Market | Maker | Taker | Market order of 1,000 USDT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spot | 0.08% | 0.10% | 1 USDT |
| Perpetual and expiry futures | 0.02% | 0.05% | 0.5 USDT |
| Options | 0.03% | 0.03% | Depends on the contract |
| P2P | 0 | 0 | Only your bank or wallet fee |
As of October 2026, global okx.com platform, Regular user tier. Some spot pairs use a separate fee group, a few have zero fees. Check okx.com/fees for the current table.
Futures fees are charged on the full position size, not on your margin. A 10,000 USDT position opened with 10x at market costs 5 USDT to enter and the same to exit. Add funding every few hours if you hold it longer.

Crypto withdrawals carry a network fee that depends on the coin and chain. OKX shows the exact amount in the withdrawal form before you confirm. The network you pick must match what the receiving wallet supports, or the coins are lost.
Where OKX works: India, Nigeria, the Philippines and more
OKX publishes its country list in the Risk and Compliance Disclosure. It has two levels: fully restricted countries and countries where some services may be limited. Local regulators add their own layer on top.
| Region | Status | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| India | Fully restricted | OKX left India in 2024 and lists it as a restricted location |
| Nigeria | Not on the restricted list | OKX left in August 2024; in 2026 local media reported P2P and access restored. NGN P2P ads with OPay and PalmPay are live, licence status unconfirmed |
| Philippines | Not on the restricted list, but not SEC-registered | The SEC named OKX among unregistered platforms in August 2025; ISPs block the site and the app was pulled from Google Play |
| EU / EEA | Separate OKX Europe | MiCA licence, futures only as X-Perps up to 10x, no xStocks |
| United Kingdom | Partially restricted | No derivatives, CeFi products or P2P |
| United States | Global platform closed | A separate OKX US operates |
| Partial limits | Australia, Brazil, South Korea, Bahamas, Eritrea, Russia | Derivatives, P2P or fiat services may be limited |
| Fully restricted | Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal, Uzbekistan and others | Also Afghanistan, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria |
As of October 2026: Section 3 of the OKX Risk and Compliance Disclosure (updated 8 July 2026), regulator notices and our own P2P check. Rules change; check the document on okx.com before you register.
Russia sits in the partial-limits group because of sanctions on its banks: OKX restricts fiat payment services there and removed the rouble from P2P in August 2023, while OKX Europe, as an EU-licensed firm, cannot serve Russian nationals or residents under Article 5b of EU Regulation 833/2014.
India
OKX shut down for Indian users in 2024 and India is on its restricted list. Do not try to sign up with a different country: the residence you enter must match your KYC documents, and a mismatch is a common reason accounts get frozen with funds inside. Look at platforms that are registered with India's FIU instead.
Nigeria
OKX stopped naira trading in May 2024 and left Nigeria that August. In July 2026 Nigerian tech media reported that P2P and full access were back, and when I checked the P2P market in October there were live NGN ads paid via bank transfer, OPay and PalmPay. OKX has not published detailed terms of its return or confirmed an SEC Nigeria licence, so keep only what you are actively trading on the exchange.
The Philippines
The Philippines is not on OKX's restricted list, and the P2P market in pesos is active with GCash, Maya and GoTyme. The catch is local regulation: in August 2025 the SEC named OKX among ten exchanges operating without registration, major ISPs blocked access, and by July 2026 the OKX trading app was gone from Google Play in the country. Using it is your own regulatory risk; registered local platforms are the safer route for large sums.

For EEA residents OKX runs a Malta-based hub with a MiCA licence received in January 2025. Standard 100x perps are not offered there. Instead, since April 2026 European users get X-Perps: MiFID-regulated derivatives with a five-year expiry, a funding mechanism and leverage of up to 10x, available after an appropriateness test.
KYC and security
Without verification you can do almost nothing on OKX: KYC is required for trading, deposits, withdrawals and P2P. The process is standard, and OKX says it reviews applications within 24 hours.
- Country of residence, nationality, full name, date of birth, ID number and address.
- A photo of your ID: passport, national ID or driving licence. Valid, all corners visible, no screenshots.
- A selfie with your face inside the oval, no glasses, mask or hat.
- Proof of address if asked: a bank statement or utility bill no older than 3 months.
Most rejections come from glare on the ID photo and selfies with glasses. One person, one account: OKX rejects duplicate identities straight away.
A step-by-step walkthrough with common problems is in our OKX sign-up and verification guide.
On trust: OKX publishes a monthly Proof of Reserves report using zk-STARK, and you can verify your own balance in it. On the other side, in February 2025 the operator of the exchange pleaded guilty in the US to running an unlicensed money transmitting business and paid more than 504 million dollars. The case concerned serving US customers, and since then OKX has been noticeably stricter about KYC and where users connect from.
P2P on OKX
P2P is the main way to fund OKX where direct bank deposits are not offered. You buy USDT from another user; OKX locks the seller's coins in escrow and releases them once the seller confirms your payment. OKX charges no P2P fee, you only pay whatever your bank or e-wallet charges.
- P2P needs completed KYC and a verified email or phone.
- Pick sellers with a verified merchant badge and a high completion rate.
- Keep all chat inside OKX: in a dispute, it is your evidence.
- Never mark money as received until you see it in your bank or e-wallet app.
P2P on OKX is as safe as you are careful: escrow protects you from the seller, not from rushing.
How to turn USDT back into local money is covered in how to withdraw USDT to a bank card.

OKX is a strong exchange for active trading and derivatives. Whether it suits you depends first on your country, and only then on fees.
If you are comparing platforms, see our reviews of Bybit and Binance: the product range is similar, the differences are in P2P and country rules.
